Hamilton Stephens Steele + Martin Commercial Construction Group Named in Chambers USA 2020

The Construction Litigation group at Hamilton Stephens recently received a distinct feature in the Chambers and Partners USA 2020 Guide as one of only a few firms in North Carolina selected for its expertise and strength in that practice area.

Chambers USA identifies and ranks top lawyers and law firms across all the United States through an intense selection process supported by an experienced team of 200+ London researchers. Chambers researchers provide an in-depth analysis of the marketplace, organizations, and individuals based on key performance indicators such as technical legal ability, client service, commercial vision and business understanding, diligence, value for money, and depth of team in determining lawyers and law firms to include in its rankings guide.

Chambers identifies HSSM as a “[w]ell-regarded construction boutique” offering “notable strength in construction project disputes and contract review,” as well as “[e]xpert representation of design professionals” that is “complemented by broader experience in acting for contractors and subcontractors.” One interviewee contacted by Chambers observed, “I consider this team the best when it comes to construction litigation. That overall understanding of both construction and construction law is rare.” Another praised the group as “hard-working, energetic and great communicators.”

Within the Construction Litigation group, Tracy James, Benjamin Martin, and Carmela Mastrianni each received individual recognition as notable practitioners. Interviewees commended Ms. James for her trial strength, with one commenting “She thinks four moves ahead of witnesses in cross-examination . . .  . [T]hey are unaware of the trap they are walking into.” Mr. Martin similarly garnered praise from peers and clients alike as “a top-notch lawyer,” both “intelligent and practical,” with extensive court experience. Ms. Mastrianni also received high marks for her strength “in analysis and legal research.”
