  • Alec joined HSSM in 2024 as an associate in the Construction Law and Commercial Litigation practice groups. He represents owners, contractors, design professionals and other entities in all aspects of construction litigation throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. In addition to his construction work, Alec also represents landlords in unconventional tenancy concerns, summary ejectment actions, and related litigation matters.

    Prior to joining HSSM, Alec worked at a regional law firm where he practiced general civil litigation and focused on insurance defense. He gained extensive experience with a variety of areas including negligence, breach of contract, business fraud, premises liability, construction, and professional negligence.

    Alec earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. While at UNC Law, he was a staff member of the First Amendment Law Review and completed a clerkship at the North Carolina Court of Appeals in Judge Tyson’s chambers. Prior to law school, Alec graduated from the University of Central Florida. In his spare time, Alec and his wife, Madeline, enjoy traveling, exploring Charlotte, and playing with his two dogs named Piper and Hamilton.

    • Obtained multiple defense verdicts in North Carolina jury trials on claims for negligence, breach of contract, and bailment causes of actions
    • Successfully argued and obtained summary judgment on Chapter 75 unfair and deceptive trade practice claims
