Robert Shelton is practicing with HSSM’s Civil Litigation Group. Robert attended the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, FL where he earned his JD with Honors and served on the International and Comparative Law Review. While in law school, Robert was a student lawyer for the Immigration Clinic where he represented clients in Immigration Court at the Miami Immigration Court and ICE Krome Detention Center, participated in the Litigation Skills - Civil Section, was the captain for the law school’s flag football team in the annual Law School v. Med School Dean’s Cup, and received the CALI award in both Antitrust and Craft Alcohol and Cannabis Regulation. Since law school, Robert has gained experience in a variety of civil litigation matters, including first-party property, landlord-tenant, land-use, business, and construction. Robert is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and Florida.

Prior to attending law school, Robert graduated from East Tennessee State University, where he majored in Political Science and minored in legal studies. While at ETSU, Robert participated in the Washington Center Internship and Seminar program in Washington, D.C. where he worked for Mil Mujeres, a non-profit organization focused on assisting low-income, Spanish speaking victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Robert also studied abroad in London, England, where he met his wife, Stephanie.

Robert was born and bred in the small Appalachian town of Hot Springs, NC. Outside of work, you can find Robert at one of the many golf courses around Charlotte, watching the UNC Tar Heels, Carolina Panthers, or Atlanta Braves, and spending time with his wife and Cavalier King Charles, Theo.
