Rare Jury Trial Yields Large Verdict for HSS+M Family Law Lawyers

After a week-long jury trial in Mecklenburg County, HSS+M partners Amy Simpson Fiorenza and Allison Pauls Holstein were awarded a $5.4 million dollar verdict for their client.  Although jury trials are rare in family law cases, this dispute arose out of Property Settlement Agreement in which Amy and Allison’s client claimed that her ex-husband had failed to disclose certain material assets prior to the signing of the Property Settlement Agreement.  The jury found that the ex-husband had breached the Agreement by failing to disclose assets valued at over the $1000 threshold amount set forth in the Agreement therefore entitling the client to 80% of the value of the undisclosed assets.  The net result yields approximately $4,300,000 for Amy and Allison’s client.
