HSSM was a sponsor of the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Law Day celebration on May 2, 2013. The theme for the celebration was Realizing the Dream: Equality for All to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Congressman Mel Watt, President Obama’s nominee to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), was the keynote speaker.
