HSSM Partner Bob Stephens appointed Chief Legal Counsel by Governor McCrory

Hamilton Stephens Steele + Martin, PLLC is proud and honored to announce that North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has selected Partner Bob Stephens to serve as his Chief Legal Counsel.  Bob has taken a leave of absence from the Firm while he serves the people of North Carolina. Bob was a senior partner at the Firm before being selected by the Governor.

Bob is a lifelong resident of Charlotte and has spent his entire professional career in Charlotte after serving as a first lieutenant in the United States Army, Judge Advocate General Corp, 1970 – 1972.  Bob has enjoyed a long and distinguished legal career in Charlotte.  A few of Bob’s honors include:  Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating of AV® Preeminent™; Best Lawyers® – 2012 Lawyer of the Year for Construction Law in Charlotte; Best Lawyers® – Construction Law; Business North Carolina Legal Elite – Construction Law; Law & Politics North Carolina Super Lawyer – Construction Law.

Bob has been a member of the Firm since 2001.  In his new position as Chief Legal Counsel to the Governor, Bob will use his years of varied legal experience, including representation of municipal governments, to advise the Governor on a broad spectrum of issues facing the State of North Carolina.
