Aaron Lay Elected as Partner at HSSM

January 8, 2015, Charlotte, NC: Hamilton Stephens Steele + Martin, PLLC (“HSSM”) is pleased to announce the election of Aaron Lay to HSSM’s partnership.  Aaron joined HSSM in 2008 and is an attorney in HSSM’s litigation practice group.  While Aaron has experience in a broad range of civil litigation matters, his practice primarily focuses on business litigation and construction litigation.  Aaron serves as primary counsel for his clients, ranging from large corporations to small businesses and individuals, throughout the various stages of litigation in state and federal courts in North Carolina, including appeals.  Aaron is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and Tennessee.

Aaron has been recognized by his professional peers and members of the North Carolina Bar for his skills, knowledge and judgment as a litigator. Aaron has received an AV® Preeminent™ (4.5 – 5.0) Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating.  According to Martindale-Hubbell, “An AV® certification mark is a significant rating accomplishment – a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.” Super Lawyers magazine has named Aaron a “Rising Star” in business litigation in its 2014 and 2015 editions.  This is an honor bestowed on only 2.5% of North Carolina attorneys. Business North Carolina magazine also named Aaron as a “Young Gun” (Under 40) in business litigation in its 2015 Legal Elite listing.  Aaron was one of only eleven young lawyers to receive this designation in the Charlotte area.  Aaron was also recently selected to the 2015 class of the prestigious Mecklenburg County Bar Leadership Institute.

Aaron is a Whittle Scholar and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Tennessee where he obtained his B.A., magna cum laude, and his J.D.
